Welcome boost to Britain’s beaches
22nd May 13
2013 is a great year to visit any number of our well-loved British beaches. Keep Britain Tidy today announced that a number of British beaches have been awarded the internationally recognised Blue Flag this year, a guarantee to visitors that the beach has top notch facilities, is litter free and has achieved a high standard of water quality.
This year’s entries had to meet the new "excellent" standard required under the new EU Bathing Waters Directive.
Keep Britain Tidy operations director Richard McIlwain said: "It is fantastic news for everyone who loves visiting the seaside that so many beaches' places will be flying a flag that guarantees the public the best facilities and the cleanest beaches this summer."
Coach Tour Operator Alfa Travel takes in a number of these resorts and their award winning beaches and their sister company Leisureplex Hotels is proud to have a number of hotels situated along these Blue Flag beaches, including the Cumberland Hotel in Scarborough, De Paris in Cromer, Cottage in St Ives, Devon Towers in Bournemouth and the Hydro in Llandudno.
The Isle of Wight won a total of four Blue Flags and 13 Seaside Awards, giving you a great reason to stay at the Bayshore Hotel in Sandown which is situated in a magnificent position on the seafront, opposite the beach and pier.
