Isle of Wight poised for walking festival

Keen walkers should think about making a quick trip over to the Isle of Wight for one of its most popular events, the Isle of Wight walking festival is now in its 13th year and proud winner of The Beautiful South Awards for Excellence 2010 for Tourism Best Event (SILVER).
Between May 7th and 22nd, its walking festival will be held, giving visitors an insight into the area's natural beauty and diversity. Throughout the festival, a number of dedicated walks shall be taking place, including Hanging Woods and Hidden Valleys on May 11th, which is a five-mile circular stroll with panoramic views of the sea.
It ends up in the garden of a local beekeeper, who will be providing afternoon tea as participants rest their feet. More details can be found on www.isleofwightwalkingfestival.co.uk
Next month's Isle of Wight Arts Festival will feature a performance by Lesley Garrett, it was recently announced, who will be appearing alongside 100 other singers, with many of them from the island
