We are proud to announce the latest winners in our much celebrated Leisureplex Hotel yearly awards programme.
These highly coveted awards are judged on the work put in by each of our Leisureplex Hotel teams over the past twelve months.
Hotel of the Year 2017
The Hotel of the Year award is based on the feedback from questionnaires received from Alfa guests covering areas such as food quality, housekeeping and entertainment. We think this makes it all the more special for the winning hotels as we believe our guests like to be involved in ensuring we provide the best holiday experience. A big well done to all of this years winners…
Winner – Hotel of the Year – Chris Matthews – Cumberland Hotel. Chris has been with the company since 2012. He started at the Madeira and after the closure of the hotel, he was transferred to the Croit Anna where he was Trainee/Assistant Manager. Chris only took over the Cumberland in March 2017 so to come first for the Hotel of the Year is an amazing achievement. Not only does he provide great customer satisfaction, but all of the staff at the Cumberland and the rest of the Leisureplex Hotel Estate speak highly about Chris and his positive attitude.
Second Place – Hotel of the Year – Sven Stoyanov – Queens Eastbourne Hotel. Sven has been doing an amazing job since he took over as the General Manager at the Queens Hotel in Eastbourne in 2015, increasing the hotel occupancy and guests’ satisfaction with their holidays at the Queens Hotel, which is our largest (130 bedrooms) and 2nd busiest hotel in the group. To come 2nd in Hotel of the Year is an amazing achievement. We can’t wait to see what this year brings, as Sven is on a mission to beat the record bednights in 2018! Best of luck for Team Eastbourne!
Joint Third – Hotel of The Year – Ingo Maxfield – Cottage Hotel. The Cottage Hotel has been one of our most popular hotels in 2017, competently managed by Ingo and his team. Ingo has a wealth of experience in hotel operations, having worked for the Company for nearly 20 years and successfully managed many hotels in the group from Great Yarmouth to Ilfracombe and St. Ives. Coming in the top three for Hotel of Year is a testament to Ingo’s experience, industry knowledge and commitment. Ingo is moving onto a new role of Facilities Manager for the group and it was a great pleasure to see him perform at such high standards throughout the years of his career. Joint Third – Hotel of the Year – Clair Adams – Croit Anna Hotel. Clair has been in the top three for the Hotel of the Year Awards for the last three years. Not only does she run a very difficult hotel, with a large number of one night business, but she also provides help to the less experienced Hotel Managers. Clair often travels to different locations or sends key staff members of her team to help. Clair likes a challenge and there isn’t anything she can’t achieve if she puts her mind to it. It’s hardly a surprise that Clair is once again in the top three… we’re sure she is there to stay!
Most Improved – Hotel of the Year – Lisa Heeley – Cavendish Hotel. It’s not the first time Lisa has come at the top of the league, having previously won the Hotel of the Year Award in 2007. Lisa is one of the longest standing Leisureplex Hotel Managers and has a great wealth of operational knowledge and together with her team at Exmouth, they are exceptionally focused on ensuring highest standards and continued guests’ satisfaction, which is the reason so many guests return to the Cavendish Hotel year after year. Well done to Lisa and her team!
Rising Star – Hotel of the Year – Marina Pozinica – Devon Towers Hotel. Marina is one of our more junior Hotel Managers, having completed the internal Trainee Hotel Manager programme in 2016, she’s been the General Manager for 18 months, but she has already made fantastic improvements to the operations at the Devon Towers Hotel in Bournemouth, increasing guest satisfaction and hotel occupancy each year and ensuring her team in Bournemouth are providing the highest standard of service to our guests each day. Marina is certainly the one to watch as she’s very determined to be the best she can in everything she does, good luck to Marina and the team at Bournemouth in achieving your goals!
Most Improved – Hotel of the Year – Karolina Wylezek – Queens Blackpool. Karolina started as a Trainee Manager in February 2016 and just after one year of training she took over the Queens Hotel in Blackpool, which is one of the most difficult to run and the third biggest in the Leisureplex Hotel Group. To improve customer satisfaction with such rate is great to see and shows Karolina’s determination to make the Queen’s Hotel one of the best in the Group. Karolina has a long way to go, but she is definitely on the right track and we have no doubt that she will continue to go from strength to strength.
