The first walk was organised to raise funds for repairs to the St Leonard's Church Tower in Bridgnorth. Since then the Walk has raised a total of approximately £1 million for charities and local organisations.
This famous 22 mile walk started from Bridgnorth High Street and along the Ludlow Road to the village of Cleobury North before walking to the summit of Brown Clee Hill (at 546 metres, the highest point in the West Midlands). After taking in the breathtaking views from the summit Karen and her team walked through the village of Ditton Priors before returning to Bridgenorth High street.
This is the fourth year that Karen has taken part in the walk and over the previous years has raised over nine thousand pounds for a number of good causes. 2011 will see all money raised donated to Prostate Action (previously known as Prostate Cancer Research Foundation) a cause close to both Karen’s heart and her team at Alfa Leisureplex.
All 19 hotels within the Leisureplex group will be showing their support, if you would like to donate to this worthy cause and help Karen beat her previous target please go to www.justgiving.com/Karen-Sawbridge
