HR Manager Jumps Out of Plane

29th July 10

Whilst many of us were enjoying a Sunday lie in Kate Sawbridge, HR Manager at Alfa Leisureplex was braving the elements, donning a skydiver's jumpsuit and getting a pre-jump briefing ready for her tandem dive from 14,000 feet - to raise money for Alzheimer's Society.

A cause close to Kate's heart the Alzheimer's Society's role is to provide support for sufferers and their carers with all kinds of dementia as well as performing much-needed research into the causes of dementia. £100 can pay for a brain scan for a participant in a clinical trial - and just £12.50 would fund a call to the Alzheimer's helpline. There are currently 750,000 sufferers in the UK and the statistics predict that by 2025 there will be over a million.

The 30 seconds free-fall at speeds of 120 miles per hour certainly got Kate's adrenaline going before the main parachute was deployed and she helped steer it down to the landing area where she was greeted by some very relieved faces!

Kate has so far managed to raise £1,000 if you would like to make a donation Kate has set up a web page
